Dutch Salty Liquorice Liqueur

Alla’s inspiration for this beautiful drink came from the Salty liquorice, which is a variety of liquorice flavoured with salty anise, common in the Netherlands and the Nordic countries. Salty liquorice candies are almost always black or very dark brown and can range from very soft to very hard, and sometimes brittle.

Our Salty Liquorice Liqueur has an astringent, sea salt taste, which has been described as “tongue-numbing” and “almost-stinging”. Salty Liquorice is an acquired taste, and not for the faint hearted. Many in Finland, Sweden, Norway and the Netherlands learn to love its sharp, sour flavours during childhood.

Salty Liquorice Liqueur can be mixed in spirits, drinks, cocktails and milk shakes, dessert sauces and frostings, ice cream and parfait mixtures, cake and muffin batters, even barbecue sauces and as marinades for meats.
