(Beverage
Testing Institute of Chicago)
Participating in the 2008 International
Review of Spirits competition at the Beverage Testing
Institute of Chicago U.S.A., Tamborine Mountain Distillery
has come away with 4 awards.
Opalescent platinum straw color with an aquamarine cast. Vibrant aromas of fresh and crystalized ginger follow through on a round, supple entry to a peppery, and mildly sweet medium-full body with a very intense, dimensional peppery ginger and salt water taffy character. Finishes with a very long, peppery ginger fade. A remarkably pure and spice ginger liqueur that will be sensational in cocktails.
Brilliant aquamarine color. Floral, herbal aromas of fennel, honeyed citrus, spicy custard, and sweet flowers follow through on a bold entry to a bittersweet full body with fruity honeydew on the mid-palate and bracingly bitter wormwood on the long finish. Tasted louched as an absinthe cocktail: Pale green topaz color. Nice combination of spicy cream and woody herbs aromas. Elderflowers come through on a mid-palate and blustering bitter wormwood dominates the finish. Rather intense and feral.
International Review of Spirits Award: Silver Medal
Intriguing purple black color. Pure lavender aromas follow through on a silky oily entry to a mild sweet medium-full body with notes of suede, bergamot, and pepper. Long, lavender tea and candy finish. Seductive.
International Review of Spirits Award: Silver Medal
Clear with a gunmetal cast. Cacao shell, dried pear, and roasted pepper aromas follow through on a round, satiny entry to a sweet-hot medium-full body with charred hot pepper and cocoa powder notes. Finishes with a chocolate phosphate and prickly hot pepper sauce fade. Curious. For cocktail daredevils only.
International Review of Spirits Award: Bronze Medal

The International Review of Spirits is the largest
and most prestigious annual spirits competition
in the United
States. Throughout the year, the tasting
experts at the Beverage Testing Institute (BTI)
will
invite select members
of the trade to join them as panelists in
blind tastings of specific categories of spirits.
Major and boutique
spirits producers and importers from around
the world and across
the country will participate in the competition
because they know that BTI conducts the most
objective, consistent
and widely regarded spirits reviews in America.
Millions of consumers look to BTI's spirits reviews on
Tastings.com, CNBC and elsewhere when making their spirits
buying decisions. Retailers and distributors across the
U.S. closely watch BTI's reviews when looking for products
to carry. Spirits producers and marketers obtain valuable
marketing tools by participating in BTI's reviews.
